I actually have a picture of me outside that pub from the original Granada Studio Tours. Unless you went you would not believe how amazing it was.

In a previous job, I had to put in a tender for some work there so got a fully guided tour of the place. It took about three hours to walk around and it was absolutely phenomenal place. Sadly we didn't get the contract but it was a great experience.

What happened to the first outdoor set from the 1970s? Is that abandoned as well somewhere or has it been completely built on ?

This place is sweet, hope they do it up and turn it into a mess or something for the squaddies.

2023 update : fully sealed but roof, no alarms anymore, roof access for pros and skinny people, very hard to get back out of the roof access spot, 2 new cameras installed since 4 months ago

I used to live there when I was a teenager on top floor the halls and stair Wells was really haunted I saw and heard many creepy things 😳 glad I don't live there anymore.

Weatherfield has become a complete dump. Sad watching this. This was such a nice area years ago, The Rovers Return has, like so many pubs across the country, has closed due to low patronage and cheap beer from supermarkets and even the local Police station has been shut down due to Greater Manchester Police cut backs which doesn't do anything to discourage the spiralling crime! Hilda Ogden would be rolling in her grave if she could see what has happened to Coronation Street. Everyone knew each other and looked out for one another but Weatherfield Council have let it go. I suspect the yuppies will be moving in to gentrify it! They will demolish these charming "back-to-back" northern terraces and build luxury apartments in their place and renamed it "Weatherfield Heights" or some other pretentious name!

As incredibly brutal and intimidating it all looks from the outside, it was quite nice to get to see the inside - Despite the state of dereliction and decay, the flats looked very spacious and I can imagine many of them have good views as well. Back in 1961 it must have felt like a huge step up from the dirty and decrepit workers slums most of the new residents will have come from. However the social problems resulting from it being used as a dumping ground for the socially and economically deprived were both grim and predictable. I will be interested to see if it fares any better the second time around, or whether places like this are simply destined to end up becoming the dystopian nightmare they always looked like.

Scarborough council are expert at knocking things down and either replacing with junk or just leave an empty space. They’ve added nothing to it over the years. Lots of people memories destroyed. Thank goodness for you tube.

So what's the plan with this place, are they just gonna leave it like that whilst people are on the street? There should be some kind of movement on this, they could fix a problem here and name it after show. I think they did this with Brookside if memory serves right! 🤔

I live really close to this place like 5 minutes down the road and my mum lives 2 minutes away from it and something really cool is that back in the day before it came abandoned my Nan used to work there when she was like 20-30 she’s 74 now and said it used to be really loud and chaotic
